ROOKIE OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 15

PLAYERTEAMWHYSTATS

Reed Sheppard

PER 26.52

Eastern
0-4
Reed Sheppard sighting? Kyrie is gone now folks and Reed might be one of the big benefactors of this injury. They also tried to ship Conley out at the deadline, too, which would have made it even more likely. Reed poured in 20 points a game off the bench for 23 minutes a game and did it with 56/41/95 splits, which is uncanny for a rookie!

Yeet has been mostly muted on Zach this year, which is surprising. His cart is still hitched to Scoot...which is going to bury him. Zach however ha snow been touted as a possible "6'9 Klay Thompson" and with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists last week as a starter in 28 minutes, while shooting 36% from deep, he has that potential to grow into.

Donovan Clingan

PER 22.31

Eastern
3-2
Clingan came out balling past week with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.8 steals and a massive 3.4 blocks per game anchoring the Hawks. Those numbers are some of the best you might see from a big man all year with the blocks in there! Going to be mighty hard to pip him for the award this week and well deserved!

Oso Ighodaro

PER 22.03

Eastern

Oso has entered the rotation of late for NY and he's showing he has a future. This week won't win awards, but at 7 points and 5 rebounds, and a block, in 13 minutes off the bench, that's all you can ask for and often more, from a bench big man!

Rob Dillingham

PER 23.00

Eastern
3-1
Dillingham hasn't been in the rotation for much of the season but last week he was thrust into a role for 12 minutes a night and responded with a healthy 9 points per game. he didn't do much else, but that's not the point. You have to start somewhere and scoring at an efficient level for a team with defensive stoppers everywhere, is a great place to start.

AJ Johnson

PER 21.54

AJ Johnson got increased run with all the Clippers injuries last week playing 23 minutes a night and he responded amazingly for 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists a game. It wasn't all chucker stuff either with 52/39/62 splits and he only turned it over 1.3 times a game. Nice showing from the oft shelved raw rookie.

Stephon Castle

PER 19.59

Western
1-3
Castle started last week (enter Memphis tinkering with roles blurb) and was much stronger in the role than he was earlier in the year. 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists with a steal per game and solid percentages of 48/33/65 too. He's going to be the NBA rookie of the year you imagine and the main thing stopping him here is the dominance of the rookie big men.

Zach Edey

PER 15.21

Western
1-3
Edey moved back with the starters last week as Memphis continues to tinker, trying to find magic! He was strong as a starter again with 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game, playing his role perfectly. he only scored 5 points, but that wasn't his role, and he was efficient at least when getting those buckets at 56% from the field and 100% from the line.

Bobi Klintman

PER 14.96

Western
1-3
3 Memphis rookies this week as Klintman gets his first meaningful minutes of the year (Enter Memphis tinkering blurb). In 22 minutes he managed 7 points, 5 rebounds and a steal per game and struggled a little with his outside shot. It's just good to see him healthy and starting his career though honestly after a great showing in summer league which helped build his stock enough to make him desired in a large trade in the offseason.

Isaiah Collier

PER 18.67

Western
3-1
Collier sighting! He's played only 10 games this year so to get 16 minutes a night off the bench last week bumped his season average up to 12 a night and his averages also. 9 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists a game is a solid return when you throw an untested into the fire and if he continues like that, he might just get more time (buoyed by the loss of Bones).

Great to see Collier's move into the rotation didn't go unnoticed :)
