News - Sacramento Kings - KLEMMELO
ALL IN OR?!??..
The same sentiment rolls over from the seemingly distant days of the NLL Kings...
Not much has changed. Same GM, Same cavalier and at time brash approach but most importantly the same drive and passion for the league in general.
Anyways!...
I flirted with the idea of building for the future and developing young talent but when Lebron falls in your lap all that goes out the window, I get tunnel vision, my palms sweaty and here I am trading my first born for a window that's barely cracked ajar. I can't help myself... I swear I will see out the rebuild when I run this team into the ground as well. Promise.
For now I get the chance to build what I always wanted to in so many years in the NLL. A versatile star guy able to handle the work load required while surrounded by a team that I feel screams chemistry and balance. I feel I always had a Knack of finding guys who worked well together but I was never happy and tinkered too much without being able to solidify my game plans/ideas with simming and data.
Here's a breakdown of how I see the Kings looking come opening night...
PG - Jrue Holiday - So happy to grab this guy while sending over some real solid depth/talent in Ibaka and Bog which really left me a bit skint on the wing and front court. Had to be done though... A perfect compliment to Lebron about to have a huge season with NO. Doesn't need the ball to be effective and completes arguably one of the best two way back courts in the league. Lebron can now hide more on D and have another guard to yell at when he forgets to rotate or close the lane. I also lowkey will enjoy reminding J-mac all season about how good Jrue has been just because I care for him so much.
SG - Lebron James - Seems to be much more effective at the two over the three or four but hell I could play him anywhere. It's basically the Lebron show though staring no one else if I let him run the point so I'm not even sure if that move will even win me games consistently so don't bother simming against it to see because I 100% won't stoop down to that level of playing him in a position he frequently plays in real life. That's just wrong.
SF - Trevor Ariza - Not the most ideal NBA situation he's found himself in but he is still rated in the top tier in 2k for 3nD wings. Lacks the juicy badges you'd love with the next tier up of guys but he will serve his roll and 2k seems to love guys with size and length. Could play him at the four if the chips are down so you start to see the trend of versatility.
PF - Al-Farouq Aminu - Love this guy, underrated as and even though I have no idea why you'd sign at Orlando with their other 12 big men on the roster they will have the luxury of playing this guy as the essential glue guy in majority of their line ups. I'll have to figure out how to properly utilize him to get the most out of him.
C - Gorgui Dieng - I sigh with a mix of bridled despair and quiet optimism when I used to look at this position and see Hassan Whiteside. The red headed step child of the NBA who is a dying species but still as dominant a big man as you can get. I got cocky thinking I could find a guy who could give me 70% of what I got in Hassan and fill holes elsewhere so this will be the trade that may haunt me at night all season long. That being said Dieng benefits from the engine as it seems quick big's with good vertical, reaction time and hustle can be more then passable.

Bench:
PG - Patrick Beverly - Caps off the claim of best defensive guard rotation in the league perhaps but I swear that's not the only reason I got him... He can shoot threes right? Oooft I didn't need that 12mill anyways.
SG/PG - Derrick Rose - Without throwing out to spicy of a take I think this dude could easily be in the running for 6th man. Please stay healthy bruh because I just traded Barton so no pressure at all. Would Rose and Lebron be able to start together?
SF - Dwayne Bacon - Mah booooiii! Drafted this guy because of his offensive skills in college. Averaged 17.4 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 1.7 APG and a Steal a game at Florida state with splits of 45/33/75. Last couple of years averaged 23/7/2.5/1.3 in the G-League. Kid is a walking bucket and if he's jump shot improves he's going to be solid. 6'7 and 210lb at the guard position is nice too. Charlotte will struggle to run out anything that even closely resembles an NBA basketball team so guys like him, Monk and Bridges are the future.

PF - Carmelo Anthony - I'm still a believer! Ok well, no I'm not but in terms of 2k production he's money off the bench. I'd appreciate if the past transactions that may or may not have included Klay and Melo in it be stricken from the record. I'm pretty sure I got like 3 firsts and all these other assets as well, you don't need to look trust me.
C - Willy Hernagomez - I refuse to accept the only reason I'm so high on this guy is because he was a Knick... The kid is skilled for a big man, is mobile, can shoot the three and has underrated post moves whether it's pick and pop, low block ISO or hand off plays. The Hornets will trade Zeller for sure so without any real competition he should get every chance to give it a crack. Played well in the FIBA world cup not that anyone cares...
To round it out... Austin Rivers, Jonas Jerebko. Kenneth Faried, Bruno Caboclo...
Half these guys don't even have contracts which I'm fine with as I'm already neck deep in salary issues and if the Chinese would have it their way they would *Bleeeeeeeeeeeep*...

You smug bastard....
So seeing as the salary cap is most likely going to crash harder then the Houston Rockets stock shares (Thanks Morey) I'm going to have to find some cheap help. Rivers is nice and rated well in 2k and I squeezed Bruno off Laddas in our latest trade just because I'd like to be one of the guys on the list to say "He's just one more year away!". Memphis should give him a run as they search for their identity and he would compliment JJJ well I think.
...O and Wes Matthews will join the ranks once the ban lifts in week 4 because I just didn't get my fill of terrible shot selection and back down ISO plays into the elbow when there's 20 seconds on the clock from last season. Nah nah he's aite... He does that cool bow and arrow celebration thingy, the kids seem to dig it.
Pete always told me "Defence wins championships..." I Never listened to him but somehow it's slowly making sense to me after all these years... He also said "Lebron is just another piece to this teams success" to which I would respond with the obligatory "lol" then follow it up by spitting on the ground in disgust while then completely out of spite going ahead with that trade I had lined up which he made sure to tell me he hated it after it was processed. Top Bloke.
I look forward to lighting up all my game comment threads as I grossly over react and abuse a video game for cheating me consistently down the stretch. I hope you all join me in the emotional roller coaster that is Kings basketball. Because if you don't like it.... *chuckles* well, you just don't like NSL basketball.
