Injury updates
for the Pacers are slow currently. The star of the team, Victor Oladipo
has been rehabbing with the team’s G-league team, the Fort Wayne Mad
Ants. He’s been scrimmaging and has looked great according to
sources. His G-League rehab-mate Edmond Sumner had this to say: “I
always love to check Vic... and I check him a lot, so I really know when he’s
getting close to 100%. And he looked good.” – By all accounts he thinks he is
going to come back stronger and better than ever. This is hard to believe
as he was an all-nba player just 2 season ago, but injuries are tough.
Marvin Bagley
has been rehabbing his broken thumb for 6 and a half weeks now, and he’s
getting close. His presence is needed badly on the Pacers, as all of
their frontcourt players aren’t scorers. PJ Tucker has filled in
admirably, but he is known for his defense and ability to make hustle
plays. Bagley brings a completely different look to the offense.
Pau Gasol has
been rehabbing a left foot injury, and the veteran big man may never play in
the NBA again. He had hoped to decrease his recovery time with another
surgery, unfortunately that didn’t work, and he is still 6-12 months
away. The team doctors have been working with him, but ultimately, he may
just ride into the sunset.
DeAndre Hunter
suffered a dislocated finger recently, but X-Rays came back negative. The
team hopes he will be back in action next week.
JaMychal Green
has been nursing a sore lower back, and is considered day-to-day, the team
expects him back soon as well.
Lastly is Dion
Waiters, after being out for disciplinary reasons for the first few weeks, he
is now nursing an “illness” and the team isn’t holding out hope for his return
soon.
As you can see,
our injuries are legion, and it sucks.
