Keyonte the Next Star in Houston

This pick might not have happened. I had him pretty low on my board because Houston didn�t really need guards. Although 6�4 was pretty nice height for a combo guard, there were still a ton of taller guys on the board. The man was killing his auditions in Utah all week before our league did our draft. So I had to push him up on my board. With how good he was doing in his first 3 games, I didn�t think he would fall to me.

So now Houston has 3 really amazing guards in Tyrese Maxey, Tyrese Haliburton, and Keyonte George. This might cause a lot of inquiries for trades, but the plan for now is to see how things develop before I decide which of the three guards I want to hold. There are a couple of forwards that I am interested in trading for, but I think it would be better to hold and watch the asset value grow before making a trade.

If you don�t know about Keyonte�s game, he�s pretty much a more athletic version of Jamal Murray. I didn�t really scout him in college because I didn�t think he would be in my range. But I guess there was something where scouts were saying he didn�t have enough burst or that he wasn�t athletic enough. And he got thrown into the �combo guard� category meaning he�s not that good at passing either.

But then Keyonte showed up this week with significantly lower body fat percentage and added burst. I personally didn�t know you could train for burst. I always thought these were quick twitch muscles that you were born with due to genetics. Chances are he always had this burst but was never healthy enough to show it off. The Utah coaching staff is giving Keyonte the keys to be a facilitator for the Summer League squad to see if he can do it. The fans in Utah are already asking for Keyonte to become the starter next to Jordan Clarkson this year and already labeling him as Donovan Mitchell 2.0. We�ll see how that pans out though.

It�s also nice to note that Keyonte George was the star at IMG Academy in high school. Along with his #2 man Jarace Walker, he knocked down the #1 high school in the nation, Montverde Academy, who had both Dariq Whitehead and Jalen Hood-Schifino.
