New Blood

After
much debate, the Pacers have decided to make a move that could backfire on
them, but that’s the league, right? The
Pacers have decided to bring in big man Blake Griffin in a deal that will see
them taking a step backward this season.
What brought this on you ask?
Well, we were approached by Ben, and asked about Griffin, and after a night’s
sleep, we decided the future at SF is in DeAndre Hunter, and the team could
afford to move on from Harrison Barnes.
With that decision made, it seemed easy to go after a former All-NBA PF,
and hope he returns to something of his former glory next year. The kicker is that he makes so much damn $$
that the Pacers are scrambling to figure out some salary situations.
So what does that mean for Oladipo’s return?
Well he is scheduled to be back in a few weeks, and by then, the team
may look a lot different. The players we
know: Bagley and Hunter will still be around, as the front office has a lot of
hope for their future. What about everyone
else? Well rumor has it another deal may
be coming down the pipeline that will reshape the roster once more.
If
you are looking to make some offers for the Pacers, most guys are available,
the team just isn’t going to make trades to make trades though. In the luxury tax, the team is looking at
ways to cut salary, as noted in the trade discussion about Pau Gasol. Who else could be on the chopping block? Well there are a lot of players on the team
that don’t appear to be pulling their weight despite making double figure
millions. Let’s see what happens before
the trade deadline, and maybe the team can cut some dead weight.
