Updates!

The Indiana Pacers have decided to punt for next year, which has been made clear after the move to pickup Blake Griffin.  The team had the opportunity to pickup CJ McCollum, who has been a favorite of GM Spudspace for years, so the front office was ecstatic to be able to get him.  This leads to the question of what to do about the backcourt, with two undersized shooting guards that both want the ball a lot.  Oladipo has been playing on a minutes restriction as he eases back into playing shape.  The team is basically just managing minutes and injuries at this point of the season.  Knowing we won’t make the playoffs, it’s all about next year.

Marvin Bagley, who is our best center, is also ruled out for a few weeks, and with Blake Griffin and Cody Zeller injured, the team has had to resort to some small-ball lineups.  So far it has had mixed success, with some wins against New York and Milwaukee, but for the most part, it has been difficult to play without a big man.

The team has had a few offers from some different teams for players, including Oladipo, and Hunter, but nothing has come up that made sense to make a move right now.  With the team looking for next year, there is no urgency to trade anyone, we need to see what the team looks like fully healthy with Blake and Victor and CJ and Marvin all together.

The biggest acquisition of late seems to be Malik Beasley, who has blossomed into a pretty good NBA player when given the chance to get some minutes.  Since being traded to the Timberwolves in the NBA, he’s averaged 22 ppg!  The team hopes this continues as his contract negotiations are up this summer, and we would love to keep him.  Hopefully he doesn’t price himself out of our payroll though.
