No Trade Deadline
The trade deadline, an exciting time for any NSL fan. The Indiana Pacers ultimately decided to stand pat. The team was approached for a lot of deals, but Indiana has been on a crazy run since acquiring Pascal Siakam. Even with two starters out in Embiid and Beasley, the team still went 3-1 last week. The team is hoping both players come back soon (Beasley played last night in the NBA after a 12 game suspension). Embiid has possibly a few more weeks out. Hopefully Holmes can hold the fort down.

So what kind of deals did the Pacers entertain? Well there were numerous runs at bench players, but there was brief discussions about a potential big upgrade at the point guard spot, with Rose moving on from the team. Ultimately, both teams realized it probably wasn’t in their best interests, and talks quieted down.
What do we expect out of the rest of the season? Well for starters, the Pacers are looking to secure a top 4 spot in the East, that is the goal at the end of the day. There are some strong teams ahead of them, but with Lebron injured for awhile, there is a chance to makeup some ground. The team wants to win a playoff series too, nobody expects this young team to win it all this season, but some playoff experience and a win in a series would go a long way towards assuring the players they are in it.
What to do about Blake? Well he’s playing again, and actually better now that he is on a different NBA team. The Pacers are sad that he won’t be able to pick up his player option next season, but it is going to save almost $40M in cap, so not the end of the world. Look for Blake to be a mid-level exception type of player next season and get a TON of points put towards him.
