Off Season

State of a franchise

With the team once again failing to get through round one of the NSL playoffs the GM has had some time to reflect and consider the direction of the Clippers franchise

Finishing the season with another 50+ win season is pleasing considering a majority was without a recognized starting point guard and relying on playing players out of position and throwing rookies into the lions den

Alas that is in the past and the future beckons starting with the 2022 NSL draft where LAC will pick three times with the #15 or 16 (coin flip) and 22nd 1st round picks followed by number 52 in the second round.

Who to choose? Is it need or best player available? Or to trade for a win now player?

Will likely hinge on the future of the freak

Centre Prospects

         Mark Williams

         Jalen Duren

         Walker Kessler

This is one area that needs some tweaking for the clippers, to go from a one man wrecking crew in Giannis to Luka Garza it is a talent gap that is far too wide, a solid veteran presence would be ideal a good young draft prospect would also do wonders and allow Domantas / Giannis to play other positions without the worry of leaving a hole up front

Power Forward Prospects

         Nikola Jovic

         Patrick Baldwin Jr.

         Jake LaRavia

Depth is a little more evened out at the 4 with Giannis, Sabonis and Isaiah Roby a solid young player capable of playing significant minutes. Hopes are also high that Garuba can step up in coming seasons and become a Serge Ibaka type player. Taking a power forward in the draft is possible but at this point unlikely

Small Forward Prospects

         AJ Griffin

         Jalen Williams

         E.J Liddell

         Tari Eason

         Marjon Beauchamp

         Wendell Moore

         Max Christie

Trey Murphy, Corey Kispert are solid rookies to have coming through as role players and both compliment the main man quite well. Corey the shooter and Trey the prototypical 3&D wing. With RJ also capable of playing SF (not preferred) the likelihood of taking a SF in the draft is also highly unlikely

Shooting Guard Prospects

         Bennedict Mathurin

         Malaki Branham

         Ochai Agbaji

         Blake Wesley

         Jaden Hardy

         Dalen terry

RJ is the main man here for the Clips with Colin Sexton the dynamic 6man player off the pine with RJ also a possibility of playing PG a SG is high on the list of needs for LAC and is a very likely add during draft or via trade

            Point Guards prospects

         TyTy Washington

Pretty sad state of affairs for LA at the one spot, Rubio the only true PG will walk in UFA and Colin Sexton viewed more as a SG six man. PG is probably the most sort after position to fill during the NSL off season

Cap situation

A lot depends on what type of deal Colin Sexton signs on the dotted line for in 2022/23 anywhere north of 15,000,000 would be a tough pill to swallow, if it is 15mill area LAC would have a salary of $111,000,000 and 3 draft picks. Trying to maintain cap flexibility is tough

Outlook

eeeerrm, who knows. could be a step forward or a dive to the depths of the western conference
