slow start could lead to change
On the eve of week four and one game to come against the unbeatable Bucks, the Knicks once again have had a slow start to the season. sitting below .500 at 5-6, the team look set to enter week four on a losing note.
Nearing the quarter way mark of the season last year, the Knicks were 5-12 on the season but were able to turn their early form slump around and end the season with a 57-25 record. It is only early days, and with new personnel the team is trying to find their groove.
"We are slowly working through things." Coach Thibs said. "There has been a lot of shuffling and toying with different scenarios so far this season, so there is no need to panic just yet. We will get there."
There have been some noted frustrations throughout the team on game nights and at practice which Smokey and the coaching staff have had to work through. The Talent across the roster is definitely in a position to make a push for the East title this year, it is just about getting the balance right and working on team structure overall to make the most of it.
One of the biggest talking points throughout the franchise and the Knicks fans has been, whos team is it? Kawhi is the most obvious answer, but DeMar DeRozan could easily make a case for himself on any given night. From the outside though, it seems there has been a bit of friction between certain parties and a change could be imminent.
Both Kawhi and DeMar lead by example at training and in games. No one would ever question their commitment to winning basketball games, but from what we can tell, the chemistry just hasnt been there like it was last season. This could be due to some personnel change, but it could also be to do with both players demand the ball to be in their hands.
Rumours are already circulating that there has been an agreed upon deal that would move out DeMar DeRozan, but until such time as this becomes official it is all talk.
So the question remains, if DeMar is on the way out, who is coming back to balance this team out and move this team closer to the top?
