Money Ball

Money Ball.

Having moved on from Giannis over a year ago the natural and eventual reaction was always going to be the proverbial wall and an abundance of losses. That has now occurred, and the hard work involved with rebuilding a team to not just a run at a title contender but a dynasty team has begun.

We believe we have a core group that can grow over the next two seasons and become a much better team that will (hopefully) contend for a playoff spot in a brutal western conference.

Point Guards

PG. Cason Wallace a 2023 lottery pick and considered was one of, if not the best perimeter defender in the class has shown glimpses of being able to become a very well-rounded starting point guard at some point in his career

NSL draft 14th NBA Draft 10th

PG. Nick Smith Jr the very last pick in the 1st round of the 2023 NBA draft was at one point consider a top 10 draft pick entering the 2023 collegiate season. Due to injury however, an unspectacular campaign resulted in a dramatic draft night fall. He is now seeing regular NBA minutes and performing quite well

NSL Draft 29th NBA Taken 27th

PG. Kobe Bufkin - Taken with the 18th pick in the NSL draft Kobe was more of a project reach player for the clippers but has shown glimpses of what promises to be a long productive NBA career even though he suffered an injury set back early on the NBA hawks woes may present him an opportunity in the very near future

Shooting Guards

SG. Bennedict Mathurin Ben is a walking bucket and free throw generating machine while yet to crack a regular starting gig in the NBA his time is likely coming.

SG. Jordan Hawkins Jordan is a flame thrower when it comes to shooting the basketball and having not even completed a full NBA season is proving to be one of the best movement shooters in the class. One of only 4 rookies with multiple 30pt games and on track to eclipse the rookie 3pt mark set by Keegan Murray last season

SG. Jordan Poole Jordan is easily the most popular players in the Clippers lineup, currently lining up at PG we see his future as a SG or 6man.

Small Forwards

SF. Jalen Williams Jalen has already established himself as a Clipper fan favorite and the team has rejected numerous offers for the 2nd season standout.

SF. Trey Murphy Trigger Trey had a rough start to the 2023-24 season starting the season with a knee injury and a minutes / game restriction limiting his impact. Regardless of that he is still held in high regard and has a huge future in both the NBA and NSL

SF. Kris Murray Kris is the twin brother of last year standout rookie Keegan while he isnt likely to have a superstar caliber career, he still offers that high upside 3 and D wing potential that every team needs on their roster

Power Forwards

PF. Paolo Banchero ROY and 1st time all star Paolo Banchero is proving worthy of the number 2 selection in the NSL, while his NBA career and NSL career arent exactly in sync he is and will continue to be the 1st player selected week in week out.

PF. Tari Eason of all the players on the NSL clippers Tari has received the most offers while currently out injured the Clippers really do miss his hustle and rebounding the second, he returns will instantly be thrown back into the rotation.

Centres

C. Noah Clowney kind of embarrassing when we look at the C depth in LA, and a position we hope to fix in the coming off season Noah is extremely RAW but has potential to become a solid starter in both leagues albeit more than likely at PF and not C.

Money Situation

This is where we make or break it next season, off contract money + cap raise, and available cap space currently equates to $59,000,000 enough to go all in on a superstar calibre player or multiple big dollar players in position of need.

The cap situation coupled with whats looking like a fairly high draft pick sets up another stepping stone in the road to mediocrity
