Looking Forward
Looking back two seasons ago and another failed
playoff run with Giannis leading the team Clippers made the tough decision to
jettison the perennial MVP candidate away. And while we as a team arent even
close to being a competitor the weight of expectation that comes with owning Giannis
is gone.
And here we are year two sans Giannis and sitting near
the bottom of the west with 11 wins to our name. its not all bad though having
a team with emerging young talent is refreshing, finding the stars of the future,
the players that have the potential to propel your team out of obscurity and into
some sort of relevancy is exciting
While that hasnt happened just yet for the Clippers who
are current NSL bottom feeders we feel as though we have begun the journey with
a very good star duo in 1st time all star Paolo Banchero and NBA
rookie of the year runner up Jalen J-Dub Williams
Both players have made themselves an integral part of
the clippers lineup and will be a part of the organization for a very long time
having already rebuffed numerous offers for both players.
Having both players is precisely what we as a
franchise need to begin the slow climb back toward the top. And while it isnt an
easy task it is one that has been taken on with a clear goal in mind, winning!
Paolo coming off his 1st time all star
selection is performing extremely well in his second season for the Orlando
Magic (NBA) to the tune of 23 points 7 rebounds 6 assists per game on a team
currently sitting 2nd in their division.
Considering experience and age this bodes well for the
former Duke alumni with his NSL GM placing extremely high hopes on the 610 Power
forward.
Jalen is just a baller pure and simple he was a bit of
an unknown entering college with Santa Clara however we knew he was our guy the
moment his highlights clip was aired. And to say we were ecstatic when he fell
into our lap on draft night just 2 years ago would be an understatement
Like Paolo, Jalen plays winning basketball for the NBA
Thunder and has emerged as their 2nd option on offence behind
superstar point guard SGA.
Playing on such a loaded young NBA team like the
thunder and still being able to perform at such a high level is a testament to Jalen
as a player.
Pre-all-star break putting up 19 points 4 rebs 4 asts
per game shooting 55% from the field with amazing consistency.
While Paolo and Jalen form what we believe to be the star
duo its important to acknowledge the rest of the core and how they also fit on
the young emerging roster
Cason Wallace an ace
perimeter defender in the mould of Jrue Holiday who will undoubtedly replace
veteran point guard Mike Conley in the not-too-distant future.
Tari Eason while currently
injured is an energetic force on both ends of the court just pure hustle. While
itll be tough to start Tari over the likes of Paolo and Jalen, he is the
perfect bench big / wing and is based on trade enquiries the most sort after
player on the LA roster
Bennedict Mathurin a little
spoiled for choice at SG with Jalen the starter being able to call upon Ben is
a blessing. And could force Jalen to move to SF full time. He is Just an
electric scorer and has recently won the starting SG spot with the Indiana pacers.
Overall, Clippers are content with our current
situation and while we not have the star power of Giannis we do feel as though
we are building a better well rounded roster.
Time will no doubt tell
