What Went Wrong and What's Next?

The Orlando Magic had big hopes for this year. They wanted to win a lot of games and make the playoffs. But things didn't go as planned. Even though most players were healthy at the start, the team played poorly.

The biggest problem hit when Kyrie Irving, their star player, got a season-ending injury (Torn ACL). This basically ended any chance of making the playoffs. Irving was paid a lot of money ($41 million) to lead the team's offense, and without him, they just couldn't score enough. Other good players like PJ Washington, Naz Reid and Keldon Johnson  tried their best, but it wasn't enough to fill Irving's shoes. Older, experienced players like Harrison Barnes and Mike Conley were supposed to help, but the team's struggles started even before Irving's injury.

But it's not all bad news for the Magic. They have some exciting young players who got a lot of playing time this season. Guys like Ayo Dosunmu , Ochai Agbaji ,Ziaire Williams  and Peyton Watson gained valuable experience. Their growth will be key for the team's future. The Magic also still have a solid draft pick this year, which means they can add another talented young player. Recent rokkies like Kyle Filipowski, Reed Sheppard and Nikola Topic also show a lot of promise.

Money-wise, the Magic are in a good spot. Most of their main players are already signed up for next season, which gives them stability.

N
ow, the big question for the Magic's management is: What should they do next? Should they stick with the same team, hoping they play better with a healthy Irving? But when will Irving be available again? It is expected that Irving will take his player option with his injury situation. And what will be with the player option of Naz Reid? Both need to make a decision until end of June.  Should Ziaire Williams stay with the team? Or is it time to make big changes to the team to truly reach their potential? The choices they make this summer will really decide what kind of future the Orlando Magic will have.

Stay tuned Magic fans!
