The Toronto Knicks
With the off-season nearing its end and free agency only around the corner Toronto shifted its seasons plans in a big way as a big piece that I had been planning to acquire and trying to negotiate a trade for since January finally fell across the line. Around week 7 last season we had the idea of creating a dynamic duo between Brunson and KAT, despite having an already elite duo of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant (though they weren't as elite together as the year prior). We began the task of reaching out to most of the GMs across the league in an attempt to make trades where we could accrue value to hopefully bring in the assets to start making these moves. After gaining Brunson's services at the deadline with a trade with the Detroit Pistons the goal was 1 step closer and with the new season around the corner Toronto finally completed this goal completing a trade with the Charlotte Hornets.
Toronto agreed to a trade with the Charlotte Hornets for the services of Karl-Anthony Towns and Caleb Martin for Bam Adebayo, RJ Barrett, a 2030 2nd and cash considerations.
Towns with career averages of 20 points,14 rebounds and splits of 56/40/90 is coming off his second appearance as a 2nd team All Defense representative and surprisingly only his 1st appearance in the NSL All League team as a 3rd team representative.
Brunson with last season's averages of 27 points, 4 assists with splits of 47/39/82 is coming fresh off his second appearance in the NSL All League team with his first appearance in the NSL All League 2nd team and his 1st All-Star appearance.
The two will lead an admittedly incomplete Toronto roster together where free agency acquisitions, trades and the development of our young wings Noah Penda and Adou Thiero will play a big part in the upcoming seasons results. Toronto is under no impression that this team has the pieces to make a title run this season as currently constructed but have the time to add to this roster with KAT and Brunson locked into long contracts. Right now our only goal is to make the playoffs even if that means going through the play-in. The Raptors now affectionately coined the "Toronto Knicks" will begin the KatDawg era in 25/26 with dreams of one day bringing the franchise's first title to the city.
