He's Done It Again
The first in-season trade has been completed for the New York Knicks, and Smokey has done it again. Making a mockery of the league and truly taking the piss, the rumblings around the league agree that Smokey has committed yet another crime.
The Knicks finalised a deal so outrageous that would see them send out DeMar DeRozan and JaeSean Tate in return for Kristaps Porzingis. The trade was straight forward and it is the hope of the franchise that this will help the chemistry and structure of the team moving forward.
Plenty of chatter around the league had Smokey yet again rolling his eyes and having a little chuckle to himself. "That cant be it." One GM said. Most GMs thought that "It doesnt make sense." But, Smokeys favourite being "Smokey, insane you get deals like that consistently. A mentalist." And, "Smokey, Everyons bestie."
regardless of the feedback, Smokey will continue to try and build this team the best he can through trades. "I am great at the trade table. If others within the franchise could capitalise on that, we would have won multiple championships. I am clearly not the problem here." Smokey said.
Back to what is important here though, and that is the direction of the Knicks. The team identified a need for change, and they were able to execute, which will hopefully cover their deficiencies.
The duo of Kawhi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan worked extremely well last season, but with the addition of Chris Paul, Derrick White, Zach Collins and others, things just havent worked out as planned so far.
Porzingis will help fill in the shallow depth at the big man position this season. The team are hoping he can create some space for Kawhi moving forward.
The Biggest concern for the Knicks is the health of Kristaps. He has only recently recovered from a calf injury, and is now looking to be battling an ankle sprain. The often-injured big man could be the downfall of a trade like this, but it was a risk they needed to take.
The team is now looking forward to their two-week break, and will take time to consider what things look like moving forward trade wise. "I will happily pretend to be your bestie at the trade table if that is what makes you agree to my outrageous demands." Smokey slyly said.
