Draft Day

Failed Trades

Our draft day did not start as planned with a failed trade negotiation kicking the day off in Milwaukee.  We quickly circled back to another talk we had been engaged in throughout the week, which was dependant on certain players not being available at certain positions, whihc of course they were and therefore another trade negotiation dead in the water.

BUT it's not all doom and gloom from today.

THE DRAFT

Our goal was to leave todays draft with at least two contracted players, which we were in a great position to do, due to the face there were 41 players contracted so far and we had pick 36 and 41.  Little did we know, we would lock in a third contracted player at pick 46, making today even greater.

Pick 36
We secured Yanic Konan Niederhauser a 7ft center out of Penn State.  Yanic fell 6 slots to Milwaukee in the NSL pick and we were elated to scoop him up.  Niederhauser is an absolute athletic specimen, the vision for 2k is if DeAndre Jordan and Jericho Sims had a baby, you would get Yanic.  Sign me up for that.

Pick 41
The Milwaukee Bucks selected Sion James from Duke University.  Sion was a much improved shooter in his super senior year for Duke University, making a staggering 49.1% of his 3's this past season.  Furthermore Sion is a bull defensively, " James was one of the ACC’s best defenders as a super senior. He has the strength, length, agility, and heart to defend multiple positions."  NBA Scout.  We are absolutely ecstatic to see Sion grow in a Milwaukee uniform.

Pick 46
With our 3rd and final pick of the 2025 NSL Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks select Kam Jones.  Jones was someone we had a long hard look at with pick 41, so when he fell to us at 46, there was no decision to be made.  Kam has all the tools to be a connective piece on offence and a disruptor on defence, who better to learn from than Lu Dort and Andrew Nembhard?  We don't see star upside with Kam, but we do see a 10 - 12 year NBA career from him and we are excited to have him on board.
Summer League Standout - 21 points and 11 assists

After a so so start to the day, we may be better positioned now than we would have been with said trade talks, everything happens for a reason, right?
